They are a great source of fiber and protein! Let’s take a look at 8 interesting facts about avocados that you might not know!

1. They contain oleic acid

Oleic acid is classified as a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid and is said to protect against breast cancer. It has also been suggested that it decreases cholesterol levels.avocado-slices

2. Avocados have the highest protein content of any fruit

200 g of avocado provides more than 8% of your daily protein needs. Who ever said that vegans don’t get enough protein? Bring on the weights!

3. They have double the potassium and fiber of bananas

100 g of avocado contains 485 mg of potassium (13% of your daily requirements) and 7 g of dietary fiber (that accounts for almost 30% of your daily needs).

Potassium helps you maintain normal blood pressure and strong kidney health.

Dietary fiber helps maintain bowel health, lowers cholesterol levels, helps control blood sugar levels and aids in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.
