Healthy & Homemade

Flapjacks are essentially oat bars, also known as muesli or cereal bars. They are typically made from rolled oats, brown sugar and golden syrup. Other ingredients often include chocolate, dried fruit, nuts, yogurt and maple syrup.

Flapjacks originated in the UK. Shakespeare even references this common English dessert in Pericles, Prince of Tyre.

While ready-packaged flapjacks may include refined sugar, oil, dairy butter and other unhealthy ingredients, this homemade recipe is completely vegan and packed with nutrients. These no-bake flapjacks are super easy to make, using only the finest of natural ingredients. They will not only boost your energy levels but also nourish your body to the max!

  • In a bowl, mix all liquid ingredients together and stir.
  • Add the oats and crushed almonds to the mixture. Give it a good stir. You should end up with a rather ‘lumpy’ consistency.
  • Place some parchment paper on a rectangular baking tray, pour your mixture in and pad down.
  • Add another layer of parchment paper on top and press down so that your flapjacks would have an even surface.
  • Place in the freezer for 40 minutes.
  • Remove from freezer and cut into rectangular pieces.
